LEEDS United have acted swiftly to remedy their striking crisis ahead of tonight's Coca-Cola One trip to Oldham Athletic.

After Saturday's 1-1 draw at Gillingham, United not only lost their 100 per cent league record, but they were also deprived of main strike-force Jermaine Beckford and Tresor Kandol after each were sent off for two bookable offences at Priestfield.

The double one-match ban ruled the 11-goal vanguard out of the trip to Boundary Park, and with both Norwegian international Tore Andre Flo and Leon Constantine out injured, manager Dennis Wise promptly drafted in two front-men on loan.

Wayne Andrews and Mark De Vries have joined the Elland Road club for a month from Championship outfits Coventry City and Leicester respectively.

Both have been pitched straight into the squad for tonight's' game in which Leeds will bid to get back to winning ways after a club record eight successive league wins at the start of a campaign stalled against the Gills.

Andrews is a former Sheffield, Wednesday, Bristol City and Oldham player. The muscular De Vries, who began his career in his native Holland with FC Volendaam, was a big hit with Hearts in the Scottish Premier League before joining Leicester.

Tonight's match pits Wise against former Elland Road favourite John Sheridan.

The Latics have struggled this term, but a last-minute winner yielded maximum points in a 3-2 triumph over Crewe on Saturday to lift Oldham above Leeds in the table.
