Lexington Bay, winner of his last two starts, heads to Musselburgh from North Yorkshire tomorrow in a bid to complete a notable hat-trick.

The Richard Fahey-trained stayer won at Ayr’s Western Meeting last month and has since followed up in a valuable contest at Haydock in the hands of apprentice Neil Farley.

Paul Hanagan, who won on him at Ayr, is back on board in tomorrow’s William Hill Scottish Cup and the three-year-old is fancied to take plenty of beating on his favourite easy ground and on a course where he won earlier in the year.

Hanagan has also been booked to partner Irish raider Golden Halo in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing Maiden Stakes.

Trained by the shrewd David Marnane, Golden Halo went down by only a head in maiden company on his second and latest start at Roscommon. That form is nothing to write home about, but he is plainly a juvenile with a decent level of ability. He should go well in this average-looking event.

Jupiter Fidius, trained at Middleham by Kate Walton, could be another winner for Hanagan in the William Hill Scottish Cup Selling Handicap, while in the Scottish Racing Your Better Bet Nursery, I’ll Be Good is napped to win in the hands of Gary Bartley.

Bob Johnson’s speedy two-year-old won well at Catterick on his latest start with Bartley in the saddle. He clearly goes well on a sharp track and conditions should be in his favour tomorrow.

The Cundall Johnston And Partners Handicap over five furlongs looks a tightly-knit affair, but Tongalooma is expected to make a bold bid for Jimmy Moffatt. The five-year-old has been in good form of late and the key to her is easy ground.

The more rain that falls at Musselburgh the stronger her chance of resuming winning ways.

At Nottingham, Westow trainer Paul Midgley has good prospects of winning the opening Roseland Group Ltd Handicap with Nomoreblondes.

The seven-year-old has enjoyed a good season and still appears to be in good form. The 5lb claim of apprentice Luke McNiff puts her in this five furlong dash with sound claims.

Amanda Zetterholm will be reunited with My Mate Jake in the first division of the AJA Ladies’ Grand Finale Handicap for lady amateur riders and has every chance of gaining her second success on the James Given-trained gelding.

Newmarket trainer Roger Varian has enjoyed an excellent first season and the successor of the late Michael Jarvis may be able to clinch the EBF Oath Maiden Stakes with Cameron Highland.

The two-year-old has a useful looking pedigree and, although his ability remains unknown until he has set foot on a racecourse, he should prove to be more than capable.
