DIAMOND HARRY, last seen winning a cracking renewal of the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury in November, could return to action at Wetherby in the racecourse’s richest race, the £100,000 Grade Two bet365 Charlie Hall Chase over three miles and a furlong on Saturday, October 29.

The autumn highlight is the showpiece race at Wetherby’s two-day bet365 Charlie Hall Meeting, which starts on October 28, and Diamond Harry’s part-owner Paul Duffy revealed that his talented eight-year-old, who saw off Burton Port and Denman to win the Grade Three Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup over an extended three and a quarter miles, may journey to West Yorkshire from trainer Nick Williams’ Devon yard.

Duffy, who heads up the Paul Duffy Diamond Partnership, said: “The Charlie Hall Chase is on Diamond Harry’s itinerary at present, it is open for review but at the moment we are looking at taking him to Wetherby.

“He has recovered from the ligament injury that he suffered earlier this year and he is ready to resume racing in the near future.”

Last year’s renewal of the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase went to the Tom George-trained Nacarat, who subsequently landed the Grade One totesport Bowl at Aintree in April.
