Norton trainer John Quinn, who hit the heights at Newmarket on Saturday, can continue his winning run in much lowlier class at Beverley tomorrow.

Quinn won the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at the weekend with Red Duke, whose high-class victory under Kieren Fallon earned him consideration for some of the major autumn prizes and also for next year’s 2,000 Guineas.

Exciting stuff for a horse who topped the Doncaster Breeze-Up Sales in April when Quinn bought him on behalf of loyal stable patron Peter Clay.

Tomorrow at Beverley, it is bread and butter fare for Quinn, who saddles nap selection Abidhabidubai in the tyregiant.com Claiming Stakes and Tom Eaves’ mount will be hard to beat.

Denied by only a head by Materialism on her last visit to this course less than a fortnight ago, Abidhabidubai looked sure to win that evening about a furlong out, but was worried out of it in the dying strides. That was in handicap company and this contest promises to be slightly easier.

Richard Fahey is another North Yorkshire trainer who was celebrating notable success on Saturday. He won the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket with Brae Hill, a Listed race at Chester with Majestic Myles and the juvenile maiden at York with debutante Ladys First, a 100,000 euros yearling purchase.

Corsicanrun, who carries the same colours – those of Helen and Norman Steel – as Ladys First, tackles Beverley’s tyregiant.com Handicap and is fancied to open his seasonal account.

The lightly-raced three-year-old finished second to Groomed on this course recently. He may not need to improve much on that to go one better tomorrow.

Paul Hanagan, who rides Corsicanrun, can enjoy a worthwhile afternoon. He can also score on King Of Swords (1.30) for Nigel Tinkler in the opening race. The gelding looks to be coming to hand.

Shadowtime (3.00) will appeal to those punters who study trends, particularly ones relating to course specialists.

The Colin Teague-trained gelding has won five races and all five have been achieved on this track, his latest success coming ten days ago.

At Ayr today, Stillington trainer Ruth Carr can continue her excellent summer by winning her third race on the bounce with Light The City in the Bet Now At victorchandler.com Apprentice Handicap.

The gelding has hit form with a vengeance recently, winning at Catterick and Southwell. Carr feels there is more to come and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him.

The nap vote is awarded to Arriva La Diva (3.00), who ran well to finish second on this course when amateur-ridden. Hanagan takes the mount this time.

Mango Music (2.30) can be another winner for Hanagan, while Mark Johnston’s Plattsburgh (5.00) is another to note.
