How many for Paul Hanagan at Beverley tomorrow? That’s the burning question as the champion jockey, in action at Newmarket this afternoon, returns north to take seven mounts on the Westwood tomorrow – and, remarkably, has seven winning chances.

It is, of course, doubtful he’ll pull it off, but there is every chance Hanagan will enjoy a profitable afternoon from start to finish and punters could do worse than to include all his mounts in various combinations.

Nap selection Dunmore Boy, who has been running creditably on all-weather surfaces, switches to turf in the Beverley Minster Claiming Stakes and has rock-solid chances of coming out on top, while Kingdom Of Munster can hardly be ignored in the Rapid Lad Handicap.

Something of a disappointment on his last Flat start at Wolverhampton, he has since run creditably in handicap company at the Cheltenham Festival. He is equipped with blinkers for the first time tomorrow.

Richard Fahey, Hanagan’s main employer, and the trainer of both Dunmore Boy and Kingdom Of Munster, provides his number one jockey with three more tasty mounts.

Bahamian Music, who proved consistent last season, is in with every chance in the Get Married At Beverley Racecourse Handicap, while Common Touch, who did precious little wrong in two outings last term, should go well in the Racing UK Handicap. The three-year-old is part-owned by Nicholas Wrigley, chairman of York racecourse, and, fittingly, Common Touch was a Knavesmire winner on his juvenile debut last summer.

Philharmonic Hall, a respectable third at Catterick on his reappearance a couple of weeks ago, may not need to improve much on that to take the Next Raceday Here Monday 2nd May Handicap for Fahey and Hanagan.

The busy jockey will also be aboard the William Jarvis-trained Bouggatti, who ended last season with a couple of sound runner-up efforts, in the Moorends Hotel’s Outing Handicap, and Red Copper for Michael Bell in the Constant Security Maiden Stakes. Beaten a head at Lingfield last time out, Red Copper is fancied to go one better.

At Newmarket, Middleham trainer Mark Johnston saddles four runners in the richly-endowed £250,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy, the pick of which may be Sadler’s Risk.

The Ed Dunlop-trained Native Khan, winner of two of his three races as a juvenile, is fancied to clinch the Craven Sakes, while Poet’s Place, a smart sprinter trained by David Barron, can make his journey from North Yorkshire worthwhile by making a bold bid in the Abernant Stakes.
