Paul Hanagan, in action at Yorkshire courses for much of last week, spreads his net considerably wider today when he makes the long trek to Windsor’s evening meeting.

Malton’s champion jockey, into double figures already this term, is fancied to be rewarded by winning on Kay Gee Be for his boss Richard Fahey, who has double prospects on the card with Dark Lane in the opening apprentices’ race.

Formerly trained in Newmarket by William Jarvis, Kay Gee Be has won five races, including an Ascot handicap last July.

He joined Fahey at the end of last year after being bought at Newmarket Sales, and could be an interesting recruit to a stable which has made a flying start to the season.

Running off a handy-looking mark of 82 for his comeback outing in the sportingbet.com Handicap over a mile, Kay Gee Be is napped to make a winning start.

Dark Lane should also make a bold show for Fahey in the Pitmen Painters At Theatre Royal Windsor Apprentice Handicap.

Lee Topliss takes the mount on the sprinter, just as he did at Wolverhampton the last time Dark Lane ran and finished a one-length second to Tasmeen.

The return to turf is expected to suit the five-year-old, who, while not the easiest of horses to win with, is capable of defying top weight in this class 5 event.

Richard Hughes and Ryan Moore, two of Hanagan’s principal rivals in the race for this season’s championship, will also be in action at Windsor and both look likely to figure among the winners.

Hughes partners Lord Ofthe Shadows in the sportingbet.com Maiden Stakes and Richard Hannon’s juvenile is out to make amends after finishing second on this course last week on his debut after being sent off a hot favourite and running green. He can go one better this time.

Moore teams up with his number one trainer, Sir Michael Stoute aboard Crystal Etoile in the Jamasitr Racing Fillies’ Maiden and can surely look forward to a good ride.

One race as a juvenile saw Crystal Etoile show definite signs of promise and ability in maiden company at Newbury in September. She looks the type to come into her own this season.

The Henry Cecil-trained Aldedash looks a likely winner of the sportingbet.com Maiden Stakes. Tom Queally has the mount on the three-year-old, who was beaten only half a length into second at Lingfield last December on his only outing.

At Southwell tomorrow, Clear Ice is napped to win the opening Southwell Golf Club Lady Members Handicap.

Richard Guest’s sprinter finished a creditable second here a fortnight ago to in-form stable-mate Dickie Le Davoir. Clear Ice can get his just desserts tomorrow.

Course specialist Ingleby Arch (3.10) and Exit Smiling (4.40), trained by Paul Midgley and now down to an attractive handicap mark, are two others to note on the seven-race card.
