Training racehorses when there’s deep snow, sub-zero temperatures and biting winds is no easy job, but the North Yorkshire fraternity are a dedicated bunch and tomorrow they have numerous chances of being rewarded for their trojan efforts.

Kevin Ryan, based at Hambleton on the top of Sutton Bank, is no stranger to atrocious weather, but he is keeping his own show on the road and has good prospects of hitting the target at both Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Everymanforhimself, the mount of Ryan’s apprentice daughter, Amy, heads to Lingfield for the Fred & Ron Gibson Memorial Handicap and deserves every respect following his nail-biting short-head defeat at Lend A Grand on his latest start.

Everymanforhimself, who steps up to a mile from seven furlongs tomorrow, is fancied to go one better on a course where he has been successful in the past.

At Wolverhampton, Ryan can hit the target with Fujin Dancer in the Sponsor A Race Claiming Stakes.

Julie Burke, a smart 7lb claimer attached to the yard, takes the mount on the five-year-old, who has shown himself to be in good heart lately and who is proven over this course and distance.

Remaining at Wolverhampton, which has been increased to embrace a bumper ten-race card, Bryan Smart, Ryan’s Hambleton neighbour, may have found a good opportunity for Mr Emirati in the totesport.com Apprentice Handicap.

The three-year-old came good at the third time of asking in maiden company on this course a fortnight ago.

Although he lacks the experience of his handicap rivals tomorrow, he has the scope for further improvement and he looks fairly treated.

Adam Carter has the mount.

David Barron, based at Maunby near Thirsk, is bidding for a hat-trick of course wins with Elijah Pepper in the Play Roulette At totesport.com Handicap.

Graham Gibbons, who has been in dynamic form lately, again has the mount on Elijah Pepper just he did when the gelding gained his latest two wins.

A further 3lb rise in the handicap does not look prohibitive for this in-form performer, who is awarded the nap vote.

While Barron and Gibbons can also score with Sparking (6.45), Mick Easterby can hit the Wolverhampton scoreboard with Devil You Know (6.15).

The four-year-old failed by only a whisker to beat Hulcote Rose here last time out.

Jamie Spencer is an interesting looking booking for the Sheriff Hutton gelding.

Back at Lingfield, make a note of John Long’s course winner Cativo Cavallino (3.30), who will be ridden by Malton-based jockey Natalia Gemelova, who was on board the seven-year-old for his most recent win.
