David Nicholls doesn't allow miles to get in the way of winning chances and the Sessay trainer proves the point by launching a mini-raid this evening on Epsom, where I fancy him to have a couple of winners.

Nicholls saddles Serieux in the Mall Ashley Claiming Stakes, and also Final Tune, who is expected to hit a high note in the Pioneer Maiden Handicap.

Final Tune came close to opening his winning account at Catterick last week when he failed by only three-quarters of a length to get the better of Cindertrack.

A reproduction of that effort will provide Final Tune with a major chance in this moderate-looking event.

Serieux has proved a hard horse to win with this season, but the seven-year-old has run several good races in defeat and was not disgraced in a muddling affair at Catterick last time in a race won by Hartshead. He is worth another chance.

Kerrin McEvoy teams-up with Sir Michael Stoute in the London Focus Handicap and can take the spoils with Scrummage.

The lightly-raced three-year-old got off the mark at Yarmouth last time when responding to the fitting of a first-time visor. Now that she has got her head in front, another victory may follow.

Spring Is Here is hardly a topical fancy in view of the current scorching weather, but Richard Hannon's juvenile should not be overlooked at Newbury tomorrow.

On his only start to date, the King's Best colt looked an unlucky loser. He went ahead two furlongs out and looked set for victory but he faltered and fly-jumped a path crossing the course 100 yards from the finish. This cost him vital momentum and caused him to lose out to Dubai Magic.

Spring Is Here can gain compensation for that luckless effort tomorrow.

Saeed Bin Suroor is struggling for winners this season, but the famed Godolphin stable look to have good prospects with Caradak in the Lillian Summers Memorial Stakes.

Owned last season by the Aga Khan and trained by John Oxx, Caradak was snapped-up by Godolphin after winning a brace of Group 3 contests and a short-head defeat by Court Masterpiece in the Group 1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp.

This conditions race looks an ideal point for Caradak to start his season with a win.

Young Bertie has strong claims in the Sporting Index Apprentice Handicap, following three creditable efforts, the latest on Polytrack. This return to turf is not expected to trouble him.
