Paul Hanagan, setting a scorching pace in Britain’s jockeys’ championship, can add to his ever-rising tally when undertaking a double-header tomorrow at Doncaster and Beverley.

The Malton jockey rode a remarkable seven winners in two days on Monday and Tuesday, which enabled him to poach a healthy lead over reigning champion Ryan Moore in the title race.

As a result, Hanagan’s odds, originally at around 50-1, have been slashed to little more than 7-2 to take the crown come the first week of November.

There is, of course, a long way to go but Hanagan continues to press on and at Doncaster he can steer Esoterica to victory for Jim Goldie, for whom he rode a winner – Glenluji – at Musselburgh on Monday.

Esoterica showed he was returning to form when staying on strongly to finish third to the in-form Camerooney at Newcastle last Saturday. He should go well in the Paul Loughnane and Alexis Callan Cardsave Handicap.

At Beverley’s evening meeting, Hanagan has excellent prospects of landing the first two races for his boss Richard Fahey aboard Bajan Pride and Arctic Feeling.

Bajan Pride has been in fine form in recent weeks and ran out a convincing winner at Carlisle on his latest start. He should prove hard to beat in the Racing Again Tomorrow Selling Stakes.

Arctic Feeling runs in the William Jackson Bakery Novice Stakes and gets the vote.

A debut winner at Southwell, before finishing a close up second at Thirsk, Arctic Feeling returned from a break to run at Royal Ascot two weeks ago, only to find himself out of his depth in the Norfolk Stakes when the chips were down. He should find this drop back in class to his liking and is expected to go well.

The nap vote is awarded to We’ll Deal Again in the Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire Pudding Handicap, the main race on the card.

Trained by Mick Easterby, the three-year-old looked an unlucky loser at Pontefract last week when failing by only half-a-length to beat Tamarind Hill, who carried him across the course inside the final furlong. Compensation awaits We’ll Deal Again tomorrow.

Brian Ellison’s Pendragon (7.55), second in the Carlisle Bell last week, and Dean Iarracht (8.30), who ran the well-fancied Pattern Mark to less than a length at Newcastle last week, are two others to note on what is always a popular meeting at Beverley.

Back at Doncaster, Tim Easterby’s Bollin Judith, who looked to be returning to form at Newcastle last time out when finishing third on only her second outing of the campaign, should not be overlooked in the Rodger Gooseman And Lucy Walker Cardsave Handicap, while stable-mate Favourite Girl (5.15) has obvious claims on the strength of her recent Warwick success.

David Lanigan has shrewdly placed Sparkling Smile to complete a hat-trick of wins this term. She may not have come to the end of her winning ways yet and is selected to oblige again in the Atteys Solicitors Handicap.
