If following a jockey in form is your favourite method of finding winners, then look no further than Malton rider Barry McHugh at Southwell tomorrow.

The 5lb claimer is enjoying a real purple patch with a bumper 11 winners since the turn of the year, and he can add to his burgeoning tally aboard My Mate Mal for Norton trainer Brian Ellison, who is providing this experienced jockey with good support.

McHugh, who won major sprint handicaps at York last season on Knot In Wood and Kaldoun Kingdom, and who also clinched the Ayr Bronze and Silver Cups, looks sure to enjoy a good ride from My Mate Mal, who had three and a half lengths to spare over Jazrawy on his latest victory here ten days ago.

The Book Your Tickets On-Line Selling Stakes looks the perfect opportunity for nap selection My Mate Mal to follow up.

The Arena Leisure Plc Handicap has cut up to a match between Dr Zhivago and Purple Gallery and preference is for the former, trained by Mark Johnston at Middleham.

Winner of his only start, over this course and distance ten weeks ago, Dr Zhivago, a son of Shamardal, looks a decent prospect. He is fancied to have the edge over recent Lingfield winner Purple Gallery.

Premium Charge, a winner here last week, returns to bid for a quick double for Newmarket trainer Chris Dwyer in the Play Golf Before Racing Handicap over seven furlongs.

Although Premium Charge is penalised with a 6lb penalty for his nose success, Dwyer has engaged the services this time of apprentice Ryan Clark, whose 7lb claim more than cancels out his mount’s extra burden.

Total Impact, formerly with Richard Fahey and now with Connor Dore, has nine career successes to his name.

The gelding, who is two from three since changing stables, can bring up double figures in the Betdaq Claiming Stakes over his favourite distance of five furlongs. Robert Winston has the mount.

At Wolverhampton’s twilight fixture, Hambleton trainer Kevin Ryan saddles Bajan Tryst in the Bet Asian Handicaps – Betdaq Handicap and his speedy gelding is fancied to score.

On his latest outing, his first appearance since September, Bajan Tryst showed a clean pair of heels to his rivals with a four lengths success on this course.

Leyte Gulf is fancied to turn the tables on Augustus John in the New Vauxhall Astra Handicap.
