The wintry weather is doing its utmost to disrupt training schedules and racing fixtures in this part of the country.

However, the North Yorkshire partnership of Bryan Smart and Tom Eaves head south tomorrow with good prospects of being rewarded.

Hambleton-based Smart sends two horses – Excellent Show and Zegna – to Kempton’s evening meeting and both have solid prospects of winning under stable jockey Eaves.

Excellent Show goes for the City And Surburban Parking Handicap over five furlongs and is fancied to go one better than when beaten a neck by Lesley’s Choice over this course and distance last month.

A tardy start hardly helped Excellent Show on that occasion and, provided he breaks on level terms this time, he has every chance of coming out on top.

Zegna is already a winner on this course, the gelding having opened his account in maiden company here three weeks ago.

There was plenty to like about that display.

Not only did Zegna have three-and-a-half lengths to spare at the line, it was only his second outing of the year and his fifth in all.

Further improvement is likely from Zegna and he looks fairly treated at the weights in the digibet Casino Handicap. He should take all the beating.

Also worthy of respect at Kempton are Ardmaddy (7.50), who has been running well lately, and the in-form Bubbly Bellini (8.20).

At Lingfield’s afternoon programme, Den’s Gift is napped to capture the totesport.com Handicap.

Trained at Lambourn by Clive Cox, the five-year-old failed by only a neck to get the better of Falcativ on this course earlier in the month.

That was a fine performance, considering it was his first outing since early in September.

A three-times winner on all-weather surfaces, Den’s Gift goes well at this venue and is taken to get back in the winning groove.

The lingfieldpark.co.uk Maiden Stakes will not take a great deal of winning and Zerzura commands attention in the hands of Jimmy Quinn.

A well-bred son of Oasis Dream, Zerzura is trained by Henry Cecil. He would hardly need to be anything above average to make a winning debut.

Robert Winston can land the totesport.com Nursery on Tenacestream for trainer John Best.

This American-bred two-year-old made a winning debut on this course a month ago and looks the type to improve further with experience.

He does not look at all overfaced in his first handicap running off a mark of 77, and it would be no surprise to see him follow up.
