Stillington trainer Harry Hogarth, who had winners on two successive days last weekend, can continue his good run at Market Rasen tomorrow by completing a double.

Hogarth is fancied to score with Pamak d’Airy and Shrewd Investor, with the former bidding to follow up his recent win at Newcastle.

Pamak d’Airy scored by no fewer than 36 lengths at Gosforth Park, winning in facile style.

He has more on his plate in tomorrow’s Victor Lucas Memorial Novices’ Chase, but, with Phil Kinsella on board once more, he is expected to make a bold bid and is awarded the nap vote.

Hogarth runs Shrewd Investor in the Book Your Conference At Market Rasen Racecourse Handicap Chase over an extended three miles.

A good third at Carlisle on his latest outing at the end of last month, Shrewd Investor should be sharper as a result of that race and this talented, if somewhat unpredictable, character has what it takes to produce a winning display.

Alan King is beginning to get his powerful team into top gear and the Barbury Castle trainer has an interesting runner in the opening Rachel Butcher Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle in Mille Chief.

Although an unknown quantity to British racegoers, Mille Chief was twice a winner on the Flat in France. He looks to have the right credentials to develop into a decent hurdler.

McMurrough promises to be hard to beat in the Market Rasen Races Novices’ Hurdle.

It has to be said that Malcolm Jefferson’s former high-class bumper horse has been a little disappointing in his two starts this season, finishing second both times, most recently at Kelso when he found Skylancer too strong.

It is, though, far too early to be giving McMurrough a wide berth and it may well be that he can regain his best form tomorrow. Kinsella takes the mount.

At Ffos Las, Tony McCoy looks set for a good afternoon.

The champion jockey has good prospects aboard the unbeaten dual-winner Get Me Out Of Here (1.10), Irish raider and recent Listowel winner Next Week (1.40), the consistent Factotum (3.15) and Foxesbow (3.50), a previous course winner.

North Yorkshire trainer Alan Swinburn sends Nelson’s Chief to the South Wales course to make his debut in the bumper and Brian Hughes’ mount is worthy of serious consideration, given Swinbank’s excellent record in such races.
