TIM EASTERBY has a good sprinting filly on his hands after Anglezarke ran out an eye-catching winner of the European Breeders’ Fund Conditions Stakes at York Racecourse.

The Great Habton-based handler’s course and distance winner took Knavesmire glory again in the five-furlong dash – flashing past Rievaulx World to lead in the last 75 yards and claim a length success.

The daughter of Acclamation finished fourth behind Amour Propre at Ascot last October – form which is looking increasingly impressive following his stunning display in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month.

And Easterby put her performance into context when revealing his talented filly had suffered from a problem that day – indicating there could be much more to come from the 9-1 shot.

“She doesn’t show it at home,” he said. “I get a bit worried because she doesn’t do that much.

“She’s quite good. She loves fast ground. That Ascot race, she had a problem when she came back. Now we just want to get her in the winner’s enclosure again some day.”

Meanwhile, Crystal Capella persevered in a titanic battle with Dar Re Mi to grab the Group 3 totepool Middleton Stakes at York Racecourse.

The pair were head-to-head in a fantastic three furlong duel and it was Ryan Moore who prevailed over Frankie Dettori in a battle right to the line.

Dettori looked to have made a decisive move on board Dar Re Mi (4-5 fav) round the bend but Moore brought Crystal Capella (15-8) alongside and the pair fought out a tremendous finish.

It was tough to call as they crossed the winning post but the judges quickly gave Crystal Capella the decision – and she collected her sixth win on the trot.

Owner Sir Evelyn De Rothschild was delighted with his four-year-old’s display. “It is wonderful to have a game horse like that,” he said. “The big thing is the horse has spirit. Our horse really tried.”

Elsewhere, Frankie Dettori notched his second winner of the three-day meeting when Yamal (5-1 jt-fav) eased to a fairly comfortable win in the Listed toteswinger Hambleton Stakes.

The margin of victory over Leyburn trainer Karl Burke’s Philario may only have been half a length, but Dettori never looked troubled when taking over the lead at the furlong marker.

Simon Crisford, Godolphin racing manager, said the four-year-old would continue to compete in Listed company.

It needed a photograph to split them in the opening totesuper7 Stakes and it was International Debut who got the verdict.

The 16-1 chance, who is part-owned by Newcastle United bad-boy midfielder Joey Barton, scooted down the rail to nab the £20,000 five-furlong contest ahead of Hambleton handler Kevin Ryan’s Everymanforhimself and Cheveton.

No Hubris (7-2) swept his rivals aside in the Stratford Place Stud for Breeders Cup Winners EBF Maiden Stakes before Kayf Aramis (2-1) took the final theripleycollection.com Stakes with a commanding display.
