ALL minds will be on Minding in today's Investec Oaks at Epsom.

Aiden O'Brien's filly is set to start as the odds-on favourite in the mile-and-a-half Classic after a hugely impressive victory in last month's 1000 Guineas.

Stablemate, Somehow, could be his biggest rival having done nothing wrong in two starts so far this season.

Minding was installed as favourite following his victory at Newmarket but involvement in the Irish 1,000 Guineas backfired when he suffered a narrow defeat to Jet Setting.

It later transpired that the filly had suffered a minor head injury in the stalls while the testing conditions at the Curragh were also far from ideal.

With significant rain having fallen on the Epsom Downs this week, it could again pose questions for Minding.

O'Brien has saddled five Oaks winners and the last two, Was (2012) and Qualify (2015), were not the number one hopes for the stable.

Somehow has proved her ability to handle varying ground conditions, she is almost certain to get the trip and is open to plenty of improvement, so she ticks plenty of boxes.

Malton trainer Richard Fahey, meanwhile, has two runners in the race immediately prior to today's Oaks, namely Spring Offensive and Miss Van Gogh in the Investec Mile (3.45pm).

Neither are pushing for favouritism but, according to Fahey, are still in good form and cannot be ruled out.

"He'll be looking for a lifetime best to win this from a mark of 91 but (Spring Offensive) is in good form and the ground OK for him as should be the track.

"I was very happy with (Miss Van Gogh) at Doncaster the last day where through nobody's fault she found herself further back than ideal and was doing all her best work at the finish. She's another who will handle it around here and the more rain the better for her. She's in good form."

Fahey runs the rank outsider, Imshivalla, in the Investec Wealth & Investment Handicap (2.35pm), and says: "I do think the handicapper has her - but she'll love the ground and the track. That can be a big plus as horses are capable of running above themselves at Epsom."

Fahey's best chance of success at today's Oaks' meeting comes via Stamp Hill in the final race, the Investec Specialist Bank Stakes Handicap (5.50pm).

A winner at Pontefract two months ago, the three year old is rated by Fahey as a 'solid each way chance.'
