What's the chances of a repeat victory? That's the burning question at Southwell tomorrow as Tioga Gold bids to follow up his remarkable victory on the same course a fortnight ago.

The gelding, trained at Norton by Lee James, who had not had a winner for more than five years, made history on his latest start by becoming the longest-priced horse ever to win on an all-weather course. His odds? A stupendous 125-1.

Tomorrow, he goes again in the Pontin's Family Holidays Handicap over two miles, which is two furlongs longer than his latest victory.

All eyes will be on Tioga Gold to see whether his latest success was a fluke or a sign that he's finally found a course and a surface that suits him. Tentatively, I'm hoping he can win again, though I'm not expecting him to start at anything like 125-1 this time.

Paul Midgley, who trains at Westow, near Norton, has good prospects of landing the first division of the Bonusprint.com Handicap with Penel.

The six-year-old, off the track for the second half of last year, has finished a good third on both his comeback outings, both six furlong contests on this course.

Tomorrow, he steps up to a more suitable seven furlongs, a distance over which he gained a win here last May. He looks ready to return to winning form and, consequently, is awarded the nap vote.

It's no surprise to see Hambleton trainer Bryan Smart saddling Para Siempre in the Pontins.com Handicap.

Winner of his last two starts, the three-year-old scored by no less than 12 lengths here last week and is facing a steep rise in his rating as a result. Tomorrow, though, he carries just a 6lb penalty.

At Wolverhampton, in-form apprentice Duran Fentiman, who is attached to Tim Easterby's Great Habton stable, will be aiming to prove that his 33-1 success on Activity on this course last week was not a flash in the pan.

His mount, trained in Norfolk by Matt Gingell, was returning from a lengthy absence in that race and, because his long-priced success was gained in an apprentices' race, he escapes a penalty tomorrow. A follow up could well be on the cards.

Stoneacre Fred makes plenty of appeal in the Pontin's Family Holidays Handicap.

A strong-finishing fourth over a mile at Lingfield last week, Peter Grayson's charge, a Southwell winner last month, is expected to relish tomorrow's extra distance of almost two furlongs.
