Up-and-coming apprentice George Chaloner, who has been on a roll in recent weeks, can ride his first winner as a 5lb claimer in the feature race at Pontefract tomorrow.

The Malton-based jockey rode three winners in as many days last week, which included a Yarmouth success on Spirit Of The Law, which was his 20th career victory and thus enabled him to forfeit his 7lb allowance.

The 20-year-old Chaloner, who is attached to the Richard Fahey yard, joins forces with his boss when partnering Eastern Destiny in the £15,000 Ladbrokes Mobile Fillies’ Handicap.

Winner of an admirable four of her eight career starts, Eastern Destiny scored on her reappearance at Doncaster, typically digging deep under Tony Hamilton to win handsomely in the end.

She is a progressive filly, and although she is set to carry top weight tomorrow, Chaloner’s 5lb claim will greatly assist her in easing the burden. She has strong claims.

Theodore Gericault commands plenty of respect in the BetVictor.com Handicap.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, the three-year-old got off the mark on his seasonal debut at Lingfield, still showing signs of inexperience on only his second start.

The son of Sir Percy is the type to continue to improve with racing and, off a mark of 78 for his handicap debut, he is napped to prevail in the hands of Pat Dobbs.

The coral.co.uk Handicap looks a tightly-knit affair, but Hit The Lights, trained by Ollie Pears, has a better chance than most and looks a horse open to further improvement.

A keen-going type, the three-year-old has proved his own worst enemy on occasions because of his headstrong tendencies, but he is gradually becoming more settled and he got off the mark in pleasing fashion in maiden company at Catterick on his latest start.

This is the race Pears nominated for him immediately after that win and he promises to go well.

Shane Kelly again has the mount.

At Ascot tomorrow, Montaigne is favoured to take the Aldermore Conditions Stakes against four previous winners in a tight-looking contest.

The Ralph Beckett-trained juvenile got off the mark first time out at Kempton in what looked a warm contest.

It would be no surprise to see Montaigne follow up in this stronger company.

Ascot stages two Listed events and the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes, in which Estimate, trained by Sir Michael Stoute for the Queen, makes her seasonal debut.

She won the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot last summer and was subsequently placed in two Group races.

Likely to better again this term as a four-year-old, Estimate can stamp her authority as a stayer of note.

Hughie Morrison’s useful Pastoral Player, a course winner, is worthy of attention in the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home Paradise Stakes.

Maunby trainer David Barron’s Ahern, a smart juvenile last season, is fancied in the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home Pavilion Stakes.
