NORTH YORKSHIRE jockey, Paul Mulrennan, who slotted home a double at Southwell last week, returns to the Nottinghamshire course tomorrow with every chance of further adding to his winning tally.

Mulrennan, who is attached to Mick Easterby's Sheriff Hutton yard, teams-up with Red River Rebel in the Sponsor A Race At Southwell Banded Stakes over one mile and six furlongs.

Something of a specialist at Beverley when racing on turf, Red River Rebel has finished runner-up on his last two starts on this course, his latest performance coming here late last month when he chased home the in-form Ice And Fire.

A game performer, Red River Rebel, trained by John Norton, is fancied to go one better this time, with Mulrennan's assistance.

The nap vote is awarded to Barzak in the Arena Leisure Banded Stakes.

The step back up to seven furlongs should be ideal of for Roy Bowring's gelding, who was noted staying on strongly over six furlongs when a close-up fifth to Bodden Bay here last week.

This stiffer test of stamina should enable him to notch his second Southwell success.

Middleham trainer Sally Hall ended a near year-long spell without a winner when Blue Opal won on this course three weeks ago. The four-year-old can oblige again in the Play Golf Come Racing Banded Stakes. Micky Fenton again has the mount.

Over jumps at Sedgefield, Harmony Brig promises to be a star attraction in the Mitie Property Services Beginners' Chase.

Trained by Nicky Richards, the seven-year-old proved a very able performer over hurdles last season, which was largely a bonus as connections had always felt he was a chaser in the making.

Now faced with fences for the first time in public, Harmony Brig, with Tony Dobbin in the saddle, promises to be an exciting recruit to the chasing ranks.

Carrietau can also make his mark under Dobbin in the Betfred Poker Juvenile Novices' Hurdle.

Barry Murtagh's charge is nothing if not consistent and he gained a deserved success over this course and distance on his latest start. He has more to do this time under a penalty, but his proven experience should stand him in a good stead.

Matmata de Tendron, with a solid recent race under his belt, makes appeal in the Galaxy 105-106 FM Handicap Chase.

This gruelling three miles and three furlongs will not trouble Andy Crook's gelding, who is an out-and-out stayer. Dougie Costello, good value for his 3lb allowance, is set to take the mount.
