SCARBOROUGH will be keeping new company in their bid to gain positive points for the first time in Nationwide North.

Former Leeds United reserve stopper Mark Wilberforce has been signed up as the club's new number one following the emergency recall of Curtis Aspden by parent club Hull City.

Aspden played 11 games and let in 11 goals despite four clean sheets, but an injury to a Tigers' custodian saw Hull invoke the 24-hour recall clause in the loan contract, which was due to end this month.

But Wilberforce, who had a trial with York City at the end of last season, has already shown his credentials thanks to a ban on Aspden's involvement in the FA Cup and should make a strong addition.

He's let in three goals so far in the four-match run to date but kept Ossett Albion out in Tuesday night's replay and is now ready to hit the Nationwide North trail at struggling Leigh RMI.

It may be early on in the r-word' debate but both teams are desperate for the points and Boro will be hoping their 1-1 and 4-1 results at Hilton Park since 2003-04 will stand them in good stead.

Defender Ashley Lyth has lost a stone in weight since going down with pneumonia but is expected to get back to training next week, while Neil Brisco has left the club.
