All eyes were on the relegation scrap in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby Sunday Morning Football League first division.

Acomb Celtic secured their place in the top-flight when Mark Benton and Adam Osguthorpe both hit hat-tricks in a 7-3 win at bottom side Acorn. Celtic’s other scorer was Mark Powell. Acorn replied through Paul Bailey, Lee Goddard and an own goal.

Skelton moved five points clear of second bottom Nestlé Flag with two games to play after beating them 4-3 with a brace from Ricky Hunter, a Jamie Green strike and an own goal. The Flag haul was shared by Andy Cox, Jonathon Ross and Joe Cox.

Dunnington clinched promotion from division two by beating Derwent United 1-0, Tom Wheatland the marksman.

York Nomads came from 3-0 down to topple Wigginton Grasshoppers 4-3.

Hoppers led after three minutes when Lee Stewart rounded the ’keeper to net. By the 25th minute Eddy Clapham and Tom Coates had tripled the lead.

Nomads replied with a Kevin Smith penalty and a Nick Lawrie strike before Jimmy Willmott’s 25-yard volley tied the scores by half-time.

There was just one goal after the break – Paul Crangle hitting the Nomads’ winner.

Bubwith Nomads went six points clear in division three after beating promotion rivals Hemingbrough 4-3 with goals from Rob Eeles, Natty Patrick, Craig Rowden and Craig Hodgson.

Myron Turbine hit the target six times in Beeswing’s 10-0 win over FC Barlby to go second. Also on target were Andy Watkinson, Ben Patchesa, Callum McKenzie and Guy Turbine.

Division four leaders Brayton had Jan Tatacs (2), Tom Raines, Matty Curotto, Dale Holt and an own goal on the mark to down Dinamo Megahorse 6-2.

Unbeaten Huntington hammered relegation favourites Gypsy Moth 18-2.

There were hat-tricks for Chris Long, Pete Webster and Sean Coulson with the rest of the plunder divided between Shane Bogg (2), Nicke Rako (2), Dan Shephard (2), Arron Rose (2) and Tom Flint.

In division five, Stuart Harrison hit five goals for Drax in their 10-0 win at FTR Burnholme.

Also finding the net were James Barrett and Darren Harrison with a brace apiece, backed by a Neil Harrison solo strike.
