A THIRD successive 4-0 thumping leaves Selby Town on the precipice of plunging into division one of the Northern Counties East League.

The Robins are ten points from safety with only five games remaining after Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Nostell Miners Welfare.

Welfare dumped Selby out of the League Cup in midweek by the same scoreline and this time the scorers were Liam Coughlan, James Eyles (2) and Tom Hope.

Pickering Town went down 3-2 at ninth-placed Thackley, with all the goals coming in the second period.

The hosts forged 2-0 in front with goals from James Firth, on 47 minutes, and Chris Davey, on 56, but Darren Clough pulled one back for the Pikes on 69 minutes.

Adam Mitchell was credited with an own goal with two minutes remaining and Clough’s second came in the last minute.

Tadcaster Albion’s struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Maltby Main, who equalised in the last minute.

Former York City winger Liam Shepherd netted for the Brewers after 14 minutes, only for second from bottom Main to level on 90 minutes through Jonathan Wragg.

A hat-trick from Ryan Blott helped fifth-placed Scarborough Athletic to a 4-3 win at Hall Road Rangers.

Blott opened the scoring on 13 minutes and Patrick Miller made it two on 20 minutes, but Rangers hit back through Neil Towler and Mark Griffin before the break. Towler put the hosts ahead five minutes after half-time, but Blott scored on 53 and 63 to snatch the points.

Scarborough host Brighouse Town tomorrow (7.45pm).

Jonny Allen’s last minute strike earned Harrogate Town a 1-0 win at basement boys Eastwood Town and moved the Wetherby Roaders up to 16th in Blue Square Bet North.

Relegation-theatened Harrogate Railway were edged out 3-2 at Bamber Bridge in Evo-Stik League division one north.

Colin Hunter and Daniel Thirkell scored for the visitors, who host Witton Albion tomorrow (7.45pm).
