Harrogate Town picked up three hard-earned points in Nationwide North with a 1-0 win at home to Vauxhall Motors.

Harrogate applied most of the pressure in the first quarter, the visitors not having their first shot until the 29th minute.

Town went in front after 44 minutes when a run down the left by former York City full-back Dave Merris led to Danny Holland scoring with a drive from just inside the area.

Early in the second half, Roy Hunter headed into the visitors' side-netting and Holland went clean through but shot straight at Vauxhall 'keeper Sean Lake.

Holland missed another chance to increase the lead when heading Darren Dunning's centre over the bar.

Harrogate Railway went down 3-2 at Colwyn Bay in UniBond League division one after being 3-0 down.

Martin Crowder opened the scoring for the home side after 13 minutes and Chris Priest made it 2-0 before the break. Darren Wright got Colwyn's third early in the second half.

Harrogate's first goal came from a Whitehead penalty after 72 minutes and Hillier got the second.

Goole lost 4-1 at Woodley Sports in UniBond League division one.
