TADCASTER Albion may be unbeaten in seven Northern Counties East League matches, but manager Paul Marshall is adamant his side need to raise their game at top-flight leaders Bridlington tonight (7.45pm).

Albion extended their impressive stretch of results with a 2-1 Ings Lane victory over Pickering Town on Saturday, but the boss was far from happy with the performance.

Bridlington, who beat top-six rivals Parkgate 3-1 at the weekend, head the table by a point and have yet to concede in four home games that have yielded 15 goals.

Marshall said: “We’ve not been brilliant in our last couple of games and we’ve got to do better.

“We will have to play a whole lot better against Bridlington or we will get our backsides kicked.”

The Brewers rose to eighth place after their Pikes conquest but, such is the competition at the top, they are struggling to make inroads on the promotion-chasing pack.

“We’ve been on a good run, unbeaten in seven games, but we are still only eighth,” said Marshall. “It is a ridiculously difficult league. We’ve got to try our best to keep the run going.”
