THE newly named York F1 Racing Premier Karting Sunday Football League kicked off with a major cup shock.

Third division Wanderers produced a stunning comeback to sink first division mainstays Ainsty Panthers 11-6 in the first round of the Grand Central League Cup.

Wanderers trailed 3-0 but by half-time had clawed the deficit back to 4-3 and then cut loose in the second half thanks to a John Gothard hat-trick, a brace each for Mike Cam-midge and Dale Philips, and goals from Terry Taylor, Dave Hartas, Matt Hartas and Louis Howarth.

Haxby Lions roared loudly in their 10-2 mauling of Cross Keys which featured goals from Iain Ferguson (3), Ben Drummond (2), Dave Thompson, Dave Jeffreys, Michael Machen, Ryan Foy and Richard Nendick. Beddows and Howells replied for Keys.

Bay Horse Tadcaster were 3-1 up against Edinburgh Arms before the York side hit back to level at 4-4. In extra time Bay Horse scraped through 6-5 with goals from Nicholls (2), Gibson, Pitts, Davis and Murphy. Joe Vaughan (2), Stef Tomaino, Will Wood and Dan Dews replied for Arms.

Pocklington Rangers made the second round for the first time in their history with a 3-2 extra time win over new club Askham Bar. Michael Holmes' strike and an Andy Page penalty for Askham were cancelled out by goals from Peacock and Laverick for Pock, who then had Peters to thank for nicking the winning goal three minutes before the end of extra time.

Top-flight side Marcia were glad to come away 3-0 winners at Cygnet after being held for over an hour by the division five side. Ian Kettlewell, Andy Green and Steve Ward netted for Marcia.

Selby Olympia WMC coasted past Enterprise 8-1 with goals from Ryan Chadwick (3), Sam Pinder, Paul Tanton, Steve Lyons, Liam Brown and Steve Jeff. Enterprise's consolation came from Walsh.

Cueball Fulford Reserves came from behind to beat Firkin 103 on penalties. Firkin were 3-0 up through Paul Johnson, Martin Hird and Stephen Froud, but Cueball turned the screws to draw level in the second half through Dorlund, an O'Dwyer penalty and Turley. It remained 3-3 at the end of extra time, with Cueball holding their nerve in a 4-3 shoot-out win, Froud and Johnson missing for Firkin.

Acomb Rangers came from behind against Copmanthorpe to edge a 5-4 victory with strikes from Stockdale, Martin, Walker, Tavinder and Worobec.

Shoulder of Mutton went seven up in their 7-1 rout of F1 Racing.

Andrew Watkinson scored a hat-trick as Shoulder Of Mutton thumped F1 Racing 7-1 with other goals coming from Shaun Charlton (2), Martin Usher and Adam Bruce.

Wilberfoss hammered ten-man Raskelf Rovers 7-0 and Severus SC disposed of Acorn 7-3 thanks to a Hutchinson hat-trick and two goals each from Atkinson and Jones. Leigh Dutton hit all three Acorn goals.

A couple of goals each for Bedford and Bradley saw York Nomads through against Gypsy Moth, while Deramore Arms had a second-half burst to make round two, beating Bishopthorpe 5-2 with Triffitt (2), Crangle (2) and Jackson finding the net.

Shipton saw off Albion Vaults 5-2 with goals from Blake (3), Evans and Clayton. Reesbeck and Ward responded for Vaults.

Derwent United had a comfortable 3-0 win over Acomb Celtic thanks to Bradshaw, Wilford and Holder, while Nestl Volunteers brushed passed Thorpe United 3-1 with Rayner, Branscome and Howard on target for Volunteers. Dean Wood netted Thorpe's consolation.
