KARTIERS became the third different side to top the Leeper Hare York and District Football League premier division this season after a 2-1 win at Dunnington.

They took a first-half lead courtesy of an own goal and just after the hour mark Matty Cooper doubled their advantage. Andy Rose pulled one back for the hosts 12 minutes from time but Kartiers, who have lost just once in their last eight meetings against Dunnington, hung on.

Two strikers in red hot form are Huntington's Iain Dunn and Heslington's Stuart Dickenson.

Both players have scored in every game this season and both have hit the net a total of six times. Dickenson also scored in Heslington's last two games of last season while Dunne scored a hat-trick in the last game of last season.

Dunne opened the scoring at home to Pocklington with a glancing header a minute before the break and Chris Dyson wrapped up the points for Huntington with a fine solo goal on 86 minutes to set up a top-of-the-table clash with Kartiers tomorrow.

Dickenson scored both Heslington's goals in their 2-0 home win over York St John's College.

A pin-point free-kick from Seb Towse gave Old Malton the lead at home to Wigginton, but almost straight from the restart Wiggy were on level terms through Terry Taylor.

Neil Wilford gave Malton the lead again but parity was quickly restored by Tom Coates. Second-half goals from Dean Readman and another from Wilford gave Malton a 4-2 win. It was the third successive game that Wigginton had been involved in a 4-2 scoreline, while Old Malton have only lost once in their last seven meetings with the Grasshoppers.

Nestl Rowntree chalked up their fifth draw from their last eight games as they drew 1-1 at Copmanthorpe, who took the lead with Terry Hibbett's second penalty of the season.
