NEVER-SAY-DIE Tadcaster Albion gave Farsley a huge fright at Ings Lane before the visitors clinched the Northern Counties East League premier division title with a 4-3 win.

Runaway table-toppers Farsley stormed into a 3-0 half-time advantage after goals from Ben Jones on 26 and 35 minutes and a Lee Connor header two minutes before the break.

Terry Taylor started the Albion fight back when he volleyed in Steve Jeff’s 57th-minute corner and Marc Thompson got a second from the spot on 73 minutes after a handball in the box.

Four minutes later an identical incident at the opposite end of the pitch saw Jeff penalised and Jones completed his hat-trick with the penalty.

Nick Thompson headed in for Albion with ten minutes remaining, but Farsley managed to hang on to seal the championship.

Meanwhile, Albion will host Farsley in the final of the President’s Cup after the venue was decided on the toss of a coin.
