Hounds are through to their second cup final of the season after narrowly beating Skelton 5-4 on penalties in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby Senior Challenge Trophy semi-finals.
Hounds opened the scoring in the second half with a strike from Gareth Roberts but Bradley Clough hit back for the villagers to take the tie into extra time.
Skelton then made it 2-1 with a header from Simon Wade and looked to be going through but last-gasp slack defending allowed Adam Garner to level for the fateful shoot-out.
With a brace from Damian Cox, underdogs Derwent United won their semi-final 2-0 against favourites Nestlé Flag.
The Junior Challenge Trophy final will be between Acomb WMC, who toppled Leeman United 1-0 with a late extra-time goal from John McGarry, and Hemingbrough, who ousted Shoulder of Mutton 4-2 in their semi-final with goals from Lee Gemmell (penalty), Steve Irvine, Adrian Wood and Luke Zacharenko.
In division one of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby Sunday Morning League, leaders Wanderers opened up a five-point gap at the top after hammering Haxby Lions 8-1.
Kevin Butler, with a treble, was Wanderers’ top marksman followed by goals from Dale Phillips (2), Dave Hartas, Louis Howarth and Adam Ferguson.
