THIRD division Acomb WMC conjured the only upset in round three of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby Sunday Morning Football League Cup.

Acomb booked their place in round four with a 3-2 triumph over first division Enterprise.

Acomb opened the scoring with a close-range effort from Steve Cross and doubled the lead just before the break with a header from Neil Douglas.

Enterprise squared the tie with second half goals from Scott Milling and Michael Warriner, but Cross hit his second to settle the tie.

Hambleton, another third division side pitted against higher opposition, led three times in their tie against Wanderers before losing 5-4.

On target for Hambleton were Eddie Neate, Neil Coleman, Nigel Croad and Tom Rich.

However, Wanderers’ goals came from Kevin Butler, Michael Clancey, Gary Newton and Adam Ferguson, with a brace.

Hounds won 4-3 at Hemingbrough.

Hounds led 4-1 at one stage thanks to two goals from Paul King, plus a Gareth Roberts strike and a penalty from Alan Jackson.

However, third division ’Brough hit back with goals from Chris Land and Luke Zacharenco to set up a nail-biting finish.

Guy May had scored for Hemingbrough in the first half.

Leon Wood rose off the bench to hit a hat-trick in Selby Olympia’s 7-1 win against Haxby Lions.

Also on target for Olympia were George Wojcik and Rob Friar, with a brace, while there was also an own goal.

Tom Coates scored five goals in Wigginton Grasshoppers’ 8-3 over Bishopthorpe.

’Hoppers dominated the first half with goals from John Cavanagh and Matt Tiplady plus a Coates brace to lead 4-0 at the break.

After the interval, Bishopthorpe halved the deficit with goals from Paul Halliday and Andy Manns.

Coates added three more to his tally, including a penalty, to make it 7-3.

Matty Pallister pulled one back for Bishoptorpe, but Tim McIlroy struck for Wiggy.

Leeman United are through to the next round after seeing off Dunnington 4-1 with two goals from Daniel Midgely adding to strikes from Craig Maxwell and Neil Hartley.
