CLIFFE FC staged a minute’s silence ahead of their Minster Engineering York Football League game at Moor Lane in memory of former Selby player Jason Roughley, who died last month.
The tribute was impeccably observed after which Cliffe then posted an impressive 6-1 triumph led by two goals from centre-half David Evans.
Shane Cawkill opened the Cliffe scoring with a tap-in, but soon after Moor Lane levelled.
Goalkeeper Ally Harris then stemmed a home surge before Cliffe took command once Ben Rawson restored the lead.
In the second half, it was virtually one-way traffic with Cliffe hitting four unanswered goals from Evans (2), Rawson and substitute Paul Fenton.
