CUP specialists Selby Town will be hoping to transfer their irrepressible knockout habit to their push for Northern Counties East League premier division plunder tomorrow.

The Robins entertain Hallam, whom they beat in the NCEL League Cup late last month when they were victorious after a penalty shoot-out.

Now Selby go into tomorrow’s duel buoyed by more of the same, a resounding 4-0 West Riding County conquest of Pontefract Collieries to earn a home clash against Yorkshire Amateur on December 1.

Scorers for Town were Adam Russell, with his first of the season, Duncan Bray, Matthew Sparkes and Stuart Dove, the latter bagging a picture-book strike from a flowing move.

The only blight for the hosts from that tie was injuries to striker Ian Beckram and midfielder Tom Matthews. Both will face late fitness tests ahead of a game which fifth-placed Town will be keen to win to stay on the coat-tails of a quartet of clubs who have opened a significant gap at the top of the league.

Pickering Town are also at home when they play host to Hall Road Rangers.

Just last week the Pikes ruled the roost away when they countered from a goal deficit at Hallam to claim their first maximum haul in five games with goals from Lyle Hillier, Wayne Aziz and Christian Fox and followed that up with a 2-1 midweek triumph at Lincoln Moorlands.

It’s a clash of the premier flight’s leading two when table-toppers Bridlington Town entertain Scarborough Athletic with just a point separating the east coast rivals.

NCEL division one front-runners Tadcaster Albion will be seeking a better home return than last week’s 2-2 draw with Barton Town Old Boys and also their West Riding Cup 3-2 extra time midweek loss to Guiseley, when they welcome eighth-placed Pontefract Collieries.

If ever a team needed a lift it is Harrogate Town.

Currently propping up the Blue Square North, Town got back to winning ways when a last-minute strike from Rory Coleman settled a five-goal thriller against Goole in the West Riding Cup.

Harrogate led 2-0 midway through the first half through Ollie Ryan and Dan Broadbent goals only for the Vikings to counter with a brace of their own before Coleman’s classy finish in the 89th-minute clinched the win.

Town will aim to build on that platform when eighth-placed Hinckley United call tomorrow.

With only two wins from 12 league outings, Harrogate Railway face a tough task when they trek across the Pennines to face Lancaster City, who are fifth in the UniBond League first division North.
