SELBY Football Club strolled into the semi-finals of the League Cup with a commanding display of football in a 4-1 win over Hallam.

Sean Gorman, Tom Matthews and Steven Lyon all scored in the first half at Flaxley Road to effectively make the tie safe.

There was some resistance from Hallam after the break when Joe Bedford pulled a goal back on 58 minutes.

But Dean Wilburn’s 80th strike, the best goal of the game, gave the Robins another victory.

Leigh Wood was man-of-the-match in a superb display where James McDaid also starred.

Flying high in the league in recent weeks, Bob Lyon’s side continue their pursuit of the Northern Counties East League premier division title at Nostell Miners’ Welfare on Saturday before travelling to Hallam for a league rematch on Monday, March 30.
