PICKERING Town and Selby Town both romped to impressive cup conquests, but the Northern Counties East League night belonged to Scarborough.
As the Pikes pounded hosts Rainworth Miners Welfare 3-0 in the League Cup third round, and Selby hammered Hallam 4-1 in the fourth round, Boro toppled Brighouse 3-0 to be crowned NCEL division one champions even though they still have four league games to play.
There was reward too for Tadcaster Albion, who shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at home to Yorkshire Amateur.
But Harrogate Town failed to make possession count as they crashed to a 1-0 home defeat to Workington to jar their Blue Square North promotion play-off credentials.
The Wetherby Roaders went behind to almost the first strike on goal when the Cumbrians’ Anthony Wright curled in a free-kick after just two minutes.
