PICKERING Town moved up to second in the Northern Counties East League premier division with a 2-0 win at Brodsworth.

Striker Ricky Greening opened the scoring on 35 minutes and Chris Batchelor added a second from the penalty spot on 61 minutes.

The Pikes’ victory saw them leapfrog rivals Selby Town, whose home clash with Armthorpe Welfare was postponed due to a waterlogged Flaxley Road pitch.

Leaders Mickleover Sports, who visit Pickering on Saturday, were 2-0 winners at home to Parkgate, maintaining their five-point lead at the top.

The Pikes travel to Arnold tomorrow (7.45pm) for their rearranged League Cup second round clash, while Selby are due to host Nostell in round three.

In division one, leaders Scarborough Athletic were in the goals again, beating Glasshoughton 5-3.

However, they had to come from behind twice as Glasshoughton’s Kevin Duckworth scored a hat-trick.

Athletic’s Ryan Blott also bagged a treble, while Scott Phillips and Mark Griffin got one apiece.

Tadcaster Albion lost 4-1 at Emley in an ill-tempered game. Chris Harkin scored Albion’s goal in the last minute, after Ryan Watson had been red-carded.

Harrogate Town’s entire squad has been transfer-listed in the wake of a 1-0 defeat by Stalybridge in Blue Square North.

Nathan Joynes’ goal won it for the Wetherby Road visitors, but that was overshadowed by news of Town’s financial woes.

Harrogate Railway Athletic’s recent revival came to an end with a 4-1 defeat at Garforth Town in UniBond League division one north. The sides were level at 1-1 at half-time after Will Ryder had equalised Garforth’s 13th minute opener, but the visitors were blown away in the second period.
