HIGH-flying Pickering Town are looking for their fifth win in a row tomorrow when they return to league action following their FA Vase success.

The Pikes take on Hallam at Mill Lane in the Northern Counties East League premier division, buoyed by last week's Vase win at Tow Law Town.

They have now won each of their past four games, scoring 12 goals in the process, and could go fourth in the league with a victory tomorrow.

Hallam lie below Town in the table but won convincingly in midweek, and Pickering chairman Tony Dunning is taking nothing for granted.

He said: "It will be a very interesting game, because Hallam won 6-0 on Wednesday and it's all very tight in the league at the moment. But a win could take us fourth, and we're looking to take that chance.

"We have had four straight wins and are doing well, and we have to now keep that going."

Dunning said manager Mark Wood would be picking from the same squad as last week, with no new injuries or suspensions to contend with.

Also in the premier division, Selby Town are looking to get their stuttering promotion challenge back on track when they entertain Thackley at Flaxley Road.

The Robins have lost three of their last four games, but assistant manager Gary Cygan says there is cause for optimism.

"If we play to our potential, I would be confident we could win every game, but we are not playing to our potential for 90 minutes at the moment," he said.

Selby lost 2-1 at home to Liversedge on Tuesday, but Cygan said: "We were the better side and should have been three or four up at half-time."

Christian Fox returns from suspension for the Robins, but Andy Dawson, Mike Staley, and Tosh Reid are all injury doubts.

In NCEL division one, Tadcaster Albion travel to league leaders Barton Town Old Boys, with top-scorer Danny Gray likely to miss out through injury.

Gray picked up an ankle knock, and manager Jimmy Reid said he would make the substitutes' bench at best.

Mark Willoughby and Adam Wash are also out for the Brewers.

Reid said: "They are scoring a lot of goals and we are conceding a lot of goals, so it will be tough.

"We are playing well and playing nice football, but if you are conceding three goals a game you are not going to win - it's not rocket science.

"But we're going there hoping to get at least a point if we can."

He said playing Gray could backfire and leave him out for a month, so he was likely to sit out tomorrow.

In the FA Cup third qualifying round, Harrogate Railway and Harrogate Town are at home to Matlock Town and Clitheroe respectively, while Scarborough Athletic travel to Kirkbymoorside in the first preliminary round of the North Riding Senior Cup.
