HUNTINGTON Rovers beat Dringhouses 3-0 in the tie of the York Minster Engineering League Senior Cup third round.

Rovers, second in the premier division but now well behind leaders Old Malton St Mary's, enjoyed a return to form against the side lying fifth in the table.

The hosts went ahead midway through the first half after a great move was finished off by Alex Burton. Chris Dyson, who had earlier hit the bar, then added a second with a left-foot rocket shot after cutting through the defence.

Dringhouses enjoyed plenty of possession in the second period but created few real chances and Huntington keeper Josh Sampson proved more than a match on the occasions they did threatened the goal.

The visitors were punished when man-of-the-match Burton fired a low shot into the corner of the goal.

The two other all-premier division ties were one-sided affairs.

Old Malton kept their treble hopes alive with a 6-1 win at Osbaldwick, despite the home side taking the lead early on through Isaac Clark. Goals from Ben Lealman (3), Jack Simpson, Robbie Baker and Steve Baxter saw Malton through.

Wigginton Grasshoppers were gifted their first two goals by Thorpe United and went on to win 8-0. The first came via an own goal and the second through a clearance that gave Matthew Tiplady a gilt-edged chance.

Tiplady added his second from a corner before Kain Rogerson sprinted from halfway to round the keeper and make it 4-0 at the break.

A second from Rogerson preceded a 20-minute hat-trick from 16-year-old substitute Sam Gough on only his second senior appearance.

Henry Wharton hit a first-half hat-trick as Rawcliffe pipped Malton & Norton 3-2.

Division one side Heworth shocked premier division hosts Hemingbrough United, drawing the tie 1-1 before winning on penalties. Cal Marshall got Heworth's goal.

The all second-tier tie between Tockwith and Easingwold was also 1-1 after 90 minutes. Easingwold progressed after a 3-2 success on penalties.

Meanwhile, Bubwith White Swan won 5-1 at Fulford to reach round three of the League Junior Cup. Sean Lenz and sub Billy Robinson hit doubles for Bubwith, Jason Crisp also on target.

Pollington beat Walnut Tree 7-2, Alex Hunt (3), Brian Robertson (2), Aaron Raymond and Matty Wright striking.

Malt Shovel eased past Swinton 9-0.

The tie of the round in the Reserve Cup saw Malton & Norton and Hemingbrough United draw 3-3 - before playing out a mammoth penalty shoot-out, which M&N finally edged 16-15.

Their goals had come from Jamie Allen, Jack Johnson and Ryan Cooper.

Poppleton United pipped F1 Racing 2-1 thanks to two second-half breakaway goals. A late George Trifan volley gave F1 chance of forcing penalties but the home side clung on.

Dringhouses fell behind to Pocklington Town but Joe Rawcliffe levelled by the break and two second-half strikes from Mitchell Parker sent Houses through.

Old Malton St Mary's beat Tockwith 3-0 and Easingwold Town beat Tadcaster Magnets 3-1.

Heworth crashed out with a 5-2 defeat to Malt Shovel, while Bishopthorpe United beat Civil Service 2-1.
