HOUNDS walloped Malt Shovel 14-1 to bolster their hopes of taking the division one title in the Fastpack Ltd York Sunday Morning Football League.

Gary Collier bagged five goals, Christopher Jackson four, sub Darren Jackson three and Luke Pearse one. Derry Robson got Malt Shovel’s consolation in the first half.

Hounds, in third, are seven points behind Wigginton Grasshoppers but with two games in hand and a vastly superior goal-difference.

Leaders Wigginton, though, will seal the crown if they win their last two matches.

Grasshoppers won 7-1 at Bramham last weekend, going clear in the second half.

Jamie Willstrop gave them the lead from the penalty spot to end half an hour of deadlock.

The visitors’ advantage was soon doubled when James Edmond and Matthew Mulhearn linked up to break Bramham's offside trap, the latter slotting home.

Bramham missed a penalty just before the break and this came back to haunt them after the interval as Edmond hit a second-half hat-trick with Willstrop and John Cavanagh rounding off Hoppers' scoring.

Second-placed Atlanta finished their league fixtures with a 2-1 defeat at home to Hambleton.

Matthew Howden and Jonathan Wileman scored for Hambleton, Ben Parker replying.

Relegation-threatened Brayton won 2-1 at Bishopthorpe CFC thanks to goals by William Cleary and Patrick Guest.

Haxby United edged out bottom team Acomb Club 5-4 with goals by Louis Wilson (2), Kyle Varley, Jean Grenier and Jack Littlechild.

Division two leaders Thorpe United's unbeaten record was ended by a 5-2 defeat to Clockhouse.

Ben Jones hit a hat-trick for the victors with Dylan Howlett and Jason Horne also netting. Thorpe’s scorers were Nathan Sedman and Jack Morris.

Second-placed Tang Hall WMC, in their maiden season in the league, moved to within two points of Thorpe with a 5-3 win over York Medics.

Andrew Rothwell (2), Dexter Lynch, Roy Page and Connor Wade got Tang Hall's goals, with Robbie Britland, George Claeys-Sheridan and Alex Renwick replying.

Danny Phillips scored four times as third-placed Mitre beat K Town United 6-2. Nathan Hagyard and Samson Wildwood also added, with James Heeles and Thomas Drake netting for K Town.

Kings Head United brushed aside Elvington Harriers 9-1. James Deal (3), Issac Westley (2), Ryan Greenwood (2), Benjamin Hodkinson and James Rusling were their marksmen.

Rawcliffe United won a scrappy game at Wentworth 2-0, with Jordan Lissenburg finishing into the bottom corner for their first-half goal and Aaron Newman netting from a rebound in the second after the initial shot was saved.
