SELBY Town are into the fourth round of the Northern Counties East League Cup following a hard-fought 3-1 win over Skegness Town.

Liam Flanagan and Gary Collier were on target for the Robins, who also benefited from an own goal, to set up a tie with premier division outfit Eccleshill Town.

The two division one sides went into the break level after Alex Nichols almost immediately cancelled out Flanagan's opener from neat interplay.

Skegness came out strongly in the second half but, after a lull, Jack Boswell turned into his own net from Zac Lawrence's whipped corner kick, and Collier's goal - with the very last kick of the match - gave the scoreline a flattering look.

Evo-Stik League east division outfits Tadcaster Albion and Pickering Town did not fare so well in the midweek fixtures, however.

The Brewers suffered another blow to their play-off hopes with 4-3 defeat at their i2i Stadium against high-flying rivals Sheffield FC.

Joe Lumsden set up a second-half fightback, scoring either side of the break, and Harry Coates pulled the sides level before Lumsden missed the chance for his hat-trick when his penalty was saved. Minutes later, Adam Chapman volleyed in the winner.

Pickering Town dropped a place closer to the relegation zone with a 3-1 defeat at Mill Lane against fellow strugglers AFC Mansfield.

A Keaton Ward brace and an Oliver Fearon spot kick were enough to overturn Billy Logan's 11th-minute opener.

In the NCEL premier division, Knaresborough Town dropped to sixth following a 1-1 home draw with Staveley Miners Welfare.
