RORY McCREA was the penalty hero as Church Fenton reached the semi-finals of the West Riding FA County Cup.
The York Minster Engineering League side drew 1-1 with Yorkshire Amateur League outfit Stanley United before beating them 4-3 on sudden-death penalties thanks to McCrea's strike.
Stanley had the best chance of the early exchanges when Jordan Tinker missed a cross, but the free header was put wide.
Fenton were restricted to some Rory McCrea pop shots in the first period and on the stroke of half-time Stanley broke the deadlock, capitalising on a poor touch in midfield to surge forward. Tinker dealt with a shot from range but the rebound was put into the net.
Jonny Hadley replaced Jonah Beecher early in the second half for Fenton and his pace stretched the game - and brought the equaliser.
Chaz Wrigley, now playing up front, won the ball and laid it off for Matthew Howgate to slot into space - with Hadley running through and levelling the scores.
Lewis Beecher had a chance to win the tie but his shot was held by the keeper.
The sides were also level at 3-3 after the penalty shoot-out before McCrea passed home the winning spot-kick in sudden death.
