THERE was no change at the summit of the York Minster Engineering League after Saturday's much-anticipated top-of-the-table showdown.

Leaders Huntington Rovers and second-placed Old Malton St Mary's had to settle for a share of the spoils after their game ended 1-1, leaving Saints appearing better off, two points in arrears still but with two games in hand.

The contest was a scrappy affair with chances were few and far between for either side.

Jonny Bullivant opened the scoring for Rovers early in the second period when he wrong-footed his defender before slotting home.

Shortly afterwards, though, the sides were deadlocked again with the home side levelling from the penalty spot.

Both teams tried to get the winner in the last 20 minutes, with James Edmond making a fantastic save to deny Old Malton with the best of the chances late in the game.

The gap to the rest increased as third-placed Wigginton Grasshoppers lost 4-2 at home to Church Fenton, the visitors upping their game in the second period to overturn a 2-1 half-time deficit.

After taking an early lead through a fantastic effort from Chaz Wrigley, Fenton were second best for the remainder of the first half as Wigginton created chances galore and scored twice via a Jordan Holt header and a Matthew Tiplady strike.

However, the home side would go on to rue the standard of their finishing as Fenton were by far the more composed and determined side in the second half and two Jonah Beecher goals turned the game on its head.

Fenton were back on the defensive after losing a player for a second yellow card with 10 minutes to go but were well-marshalled in defence and scored a fourth on the break in the final minute.

A 3-1 win at Tadcaster Magnets meant Dringhouses moved to within a point of Grasshoppers, who occupy third position.

A great build up led to Cameron Mulhearn letting fly with a 25-yard strike that careered into the top corner and two Dave Watson efforts secured the points for Houses in the second-half.

Goals from Solly Tomlin-Kent and Fraser Shields gave F1 Racing a 2-1 half-time lead, after Mike Hatte had notched for hosts Osbaldwick.

A second half hat-trick from Liam King then secured the points as F1 prevailed 5-2.

The second Osso goal came courtesy of Lewis Keenan.

Simon Castle, Darren Sellars and Tom Anderson netted for Dunnington in a 3-0 success at Sporting Knavesmire, while Thorpe United defeated Poppleton United 4-1.

In division one, Strensall kept up their promotion push as a Danny Franks hat-trick helped them to a 4-0 success at Malton & Norton, with Kieran Flanagan bagging the visitors' fourth goal.

Tom Rushworth scored for fourth-placed Easingwold at Tockwith but it wasn't enough as a Jack Doyle strike and Mario Campagna’s penalty sealed the points for the home side.

Tockwith now sit fifth in the table but their bank of games in hand offers them the chance to catch every team who currently lie above them in the league.

Scott Thomson, Joe Broughton and Adam Osguthorpe fired home for Harrison Signs in a 3-0 triumph at Bishopthorpe United, while Haxby Town put five past Riccall United without reply.

A Danny Harrison-Little strike allowed The Beagle to move to the top of division two for Christmas after a 1-0 success at promotion rivals Rufforth United.

Louis Blackwell (2) and Billy Robinson offered Bubwith White Swan some festive cheer as they defeated Barmby Moor 3-1.

Stamford Bridge drew 4-4 with Pollington thanks to a Terry Taylor brace and efforts from Nathan Spreckley and Max Faulkner, whole Brooklyn overcame Cawood 2-0.

Division three’s top-of-the-table clash saw two Rob Corker goals send Heslington to the summit following their 2-1 success over Wheldrake, for whom regular hitman James Smith netted.

Stillington's woes continued as they suffered their 14th consecutive league defeat of the season, losing 6-0 at home to Walnut Tree.

Strikes from Nathan Wright (2), Sam Stannard, Will Etty and Roger Lorimer earned Elm Park a 5-1 triumph over Swinton.
