SPORTING Knavesmire reached their first York FA Senior Cup final with a superb 2-1 victory over Osbaldwick.

In their semi-final clash, Osbaldwick opened the scoring on 45 minutes through a Chris Bilton penalty, but Sporting hit back 15 minutes after the break with two goals in five minutes.

Tom Owen netted with a 25-yard shot and George Wilson neatly placed the ball in the Osbaldwick net to ensure Sporting progressed.

In the other last four encounter, Dunnington were in the lead twice through John Heads (penalty) and Samson Wildwood, but a resilient Thorpe United made the score 2-2 on 85 minutes to force a penalty shoot-out.

Dunnington eventually came out on top, winning 5-4 on spot-kicks to take their place in the final.

Strensall made light work of their Saturday Junior Cup semi-final at Easingwold, going ahead after 30 seconds through Jason Heslop with Jack Bell doubling their lead after 13 minutes.

Bell and Danny Mason made it four in the second half, before Easingwold – who had two players dismissed – managed a consolation goal.

In the junior sections, Kirkbymoorside came through a hard-fought Under-16s Senior Minor Cup semi-final with Haxby Town, winning 5-3 on penalties.

Joe Harris, Jack Edwards and an own goal put Kirkby 3-2 in front, but the Haxby keeper levelled the score late on to force spot-kicks.

Harry Bissett and Brandon Wilson (2) helped Dringhouses to a 3-1 away win at York RI in their semi-final.

Only one goal was scored in open play during the Under-14s semi-finals – by Harry Jackson of Selby Town who squeezed through to the final at the expense of Brooklyn.

Dringhouses and Tadcaster Magnets Reds came alive in their penalty shoot-out after a goalless draw, with Dringy eventually winning 10-9.

In the Under-12s semi-finals, Heworth Yellows edged past Dunnington with a 5-4 penalties win following a goalless draw.

Thorpe United Blues and Strensall Tigers were drawing 2-2 at half-time in their match, but Thorpe hit four in the second half to cruise into the final with a 6-4 victory.

Mackenzie Oldfield grabbed a hat-trick, while two goals for Jay Kelsey and one for George Harrison completed Thorpe’s goal tally.
