POPPLETON United maintained their nine point lead at the top of division one of the York Minster Engineering League.

That was thanks to a 3-1 win at home to Hemingbrough United, for whom Iain Blackburn scored their goal.

Pocklington Town remain in second place after an 8-0 demolition of Heslington. Byron Draycott, Olly Lee, Jason Nattrass, Thomas Reay (2), Shaun Elvidge, Chris Murray and Jack Overton all found the net for the home side.

Thorpe United continued their promotion drive, putting five past Cliffe without reply. Josh Brigham hammered home a hat-trick with Nathan Parker and Matthew Howden also adding to the tally.

Tockwith gained three points from their trip to Kirkbymoorside. The home side started brightly but found themselves behind after 12 minutes when Jim Gledhill tapped home a Mario Campagna corner at the back post.

A key moment in the game came in the 31st minute when Jason Brown broke free and put the ball past the Tockwith keeper only to be brought down by the stopper.

Brown scrambled to his feet to fire the ball into the empty net, but the referee had already awarded the penalty which was subsequently saved.

Despite further chances, Kirkbymoorside could not find the equaliser, and they were punished in the 78th minute when Chris Clark fired Tockwith into a 2-0 lead.

The title race in division two remains wide open, and this week leaders Wilberfoss were held to a 3-3 draw at Haxby United. Phil O'Reilly (2) and Olly Newby bagged for Wilberfoss in an end-to-end game.

Liam Booth (2) and Curtis Barker fired Barmby Moor to a 3-2 triumph over Easingwold Town, for whom Tom Hilling and Andrew Metcalfe Junior found the net.

That win puts Barmby Moor level on points with Wilberfoss but having played a game more than their rivals.

Stamford Bridge sit third after an 8-2 win over Hamilton Panthers. Max Faulkner (3), Darren Brandon (2), Josh Cooper, Adam Harrison and Dan Litherland collected the haul for the victors.

Strensall stormed into a 4-1 half-time lead over Fulford thanks to goals from Liam Wingfield, Gareth Hirst, Ali Bell and a penalty from Chris Johnson. Jack Bell added a fifth in the second period as they saw out a 5-2 success.

Rufforth United maintained their two point cushion at the top of division three following a convincing 5-0 defeat of The Raj. Danny Cates (2), Liam Keenaghan, Adam Brook and Sean Stockdale netted for the league leaders.

Heworth Green have Rufforth firmly in their sights though and seem to hold the aces with three games in hand.

Their first game of 2017 saw top marksman Danny Marshall take his league tally to the season to 26 with both goals in a 2-1 defeat of Howden.

Andy Haigh and Mark Cobb bagged a brace apiece for third-placed Huby United in a 6-2 victory over their hosts, Cawood. A Ewan McNab strike added to an own goal to completed the visitors' haul.

Goals from Gary Rylance and Joe Cox weren't enough to stop Jorvik Blades crashing to a 7-2 home defeat to South Milford. Selby Olympia also gained a 7-2 win from their clash with Moor Lane.

In division four, Huntington FC upset league leaders Bubwith White Swan, defeating their hosts 2-0.

Matt Lombard (2), Kyle McDonald, Matt Fisher and Joe Collins all found the target for Bramham in a 5-1 win at Wetherby Athletic.
