THE top four teams in York Minster Engineering League division one were out of action at the weekend – but fifth-place York St John couldn't close the gap as they were held 1-1 at Tockwith.

Hemingbrough moved up to sixth after goals from Iain Blackburn, Guy May and Tom Collins gave them a 3-0 win over Heslington.

Dave Hartas, Paul Branscombe, Connor Pears, Jonny Moss, Stuart Jenkins and Ricky Hunter all found the net for Rawcliffe as they recorded a convincing 6-0 triumph at home to Cliffe.

The only game to take place in division two saw the bottom two teams square up. Bishopthorpe United defeated Fulford 5-3 to move six points clear of their rivals at the foot of the table.

Division three leaders Rufforth United returned to winning ways with a 2-0 defeat of Selby Olympia thanks to efforts from Danny Cates and Graham Wray.

Cawood picked up their first league win of the season, triumphing 5-2 at Jorvik Blades.

Danny Hall and Joe Cox found the target for the home side but Jamie Forrest (2), James Darlison (2) and Matthew Snell sealed the points for the visitors.

Joe Hollerbach gave Howden an early lead in their home game with The Raj FC but Akif Kaya struck a 35-yard free kick which left Howden's keeper a spectator to level the scores.

Ben Neil then finished from a tight angle to put The Raj in front and, despite a competitive second half, they held on for a 2-1 win.

Malt Shovel returned to the division four summit following an 11-2 hammering of AFC Crayke.

Alan Boyd and Dave Collie struck for the home side, but they were overpowered by Malt Shovel's superior play. Steven Frost bagged a double hat-trick in the win with Brad Hall (3) and Luke Pearse (2) also making the score sheet.

Hot on their heels are Bubwith White Swan who demolished Wheldrake 10-1.

Craig Atkin (3), Kristian Wood (2), Jack Rodgers (2), Mike Thorn, Neil Hunter and Jamie Sedman grabbed the goals for Bubwith who now sit third in the table. David Metcalfe replied for Wheldrake.

Shane Bogg struck for Huntigton FC but they suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Swinton FC as goals from Charles Foster and Alan Goforth gave the away side a 2-1 success. Pollington defeated Wetherby Athletic 4-2.
