CIVIL Service strengthened their promotion claims in York Minster Engineering League division three with a 3-0 win at Jorvik Blades.

Thomas Wright gave the visitors the lead before the break and goals from Jason Hogg and Josh Shepherd confirmed their success.

Two points from their last three games will see Service rise to division two.

Newly crowned champions Wilberfoss stretched their unbeaten league run to 17, putting a large dent in the promotion hopes of South Milford in the process.

F1 Racing won promotion from reserve 'C' with a 4-1 win over Selby Olympia - Danny Penrose getting all four goals, with Chris Lawler replying.

Civil Service, pipped at the post in the promotion race, lost 4-3 at home to Wilberfoss.

Ben Dale put the hosts in front but Jake Whitfield replied either side of the interval and Charlie Dodds made it 3-1 to Foss. James Shaw then struck twice for Civil Service to level before Whitfield completed his hat-trick ten minutes from time to secure the points.

Kieran Nelson and an own goal found the net for up Rufforth United but they lost 3-2 to Cliffe, whose goals came from Glynn Richardson (2) and Joe White.

Stephen Cooper and Danny Landrick scored for Fulford - but they crashed 9-2 to Poppleton United.
