STRIKER Matthew Biggins made it a huge home debut to remember for Pickering Town in their Northern Counties East League Cup derby against Selby Town.

The third round tie was always going to be tight between the NCEL premier division rivals, but hosts Pickering produced a much-improved display to deservedly win 1-0 and edge into the quarter-finals.

The only goal of the game was struck by former Amotherby and Old Malton front-man Biggins, who latched on to an astute pass from Ricky Greening to leather a 25-yard drive high into the net midway through the second half.

Meanwhile, Tadcaster Albion's NCEL first division game at Worsbrough Bridge was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Albion's U19s side are in action against Harrogate Town at Ings Lane tonight (ko 7.45pm). The game has been switched to Tadcaster because of floodlight problems at Wetherby Road.
