UNION Rovers returned to the top of RJF Homes Beckett Football League division one after beating Gillamoor 5-2.

Richard Abbey and Dwaine Young put them 2-0 up and, although Luke Tateson and Simon Baum brought Gillamoor level before half-time, Young, substitute Rob Sharratt and Peter Tiffeny completed the nap hand.

Rovers are two points ahead of Kirkbymoorside Reserves, Sinnington and Rosedale, though Kirkbymoorside and Sinnington have a game in hand.

The Moorsiders hammered Slingsby 7-0, with Ryan Rivis (2), Sid Brackley, Shaun Cox, substitute Danny Drake (2) and Andrew Ferguson on target. They were in charge even before Slingsby goalkeeper Andy Hawes was sent off.

Rosedale collected a point at Aislaby United thanks to a brace from Matty Gardner in a 2-2 draw.

Ryedale Sports Club pipped Black Swan Pickering in a 5-4 thriller, in which Jay Brown and Bobby Brewer traded hat-tricks.

At the bottom, Paul Cook and Michael Brown got the vital goals as Heslerton beat Thornton-le-Dale 2-1. Paul Grayson scored for Thornton, who saw Nick Beech hit the bar as they sought a second equaliser.

Division two leaders Terrington Glory beat St Clement's Reserves 3-2. Tom Paley, Shaun Wilford (pen) and David Bradshaw put them in control, before St Clement's replied late on.

Jamie Gibson scored a hat-trick as Crayke stayed second with a 5-0 win at Old Malton 4ths, while Richard Stevenson netted a brace as Old Malton 3rds stayed third after a 3-1 win at Duncombe Park. Pro-Pak dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Bagby and Balk.

Lee Nesfield led the way with five goals as Gillamoor Reserves thrashed Norton United Reserves 9-1, while David Shanks' scrambled goal gave St Clement's 3rds a 1-0 win over Union Rovers 2nds.

In the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy, second division side Ampleforth gave first division Sinnington a fright before the Sinners won 5-2 after extra time.

Two goals by Ampleforth's Dave Wallinger sandwiched strikes by Stuart Wilkinson and Paul Harland as the tie ended 2-2 in normal time. Lee Mitchell, Wilkinson and Stephen Bourse (pen) sealed the result.
