SCARBOROUGH boosted their hopes of Conference North survival with a 2-0 victory at Farsley Celtic on Saturday.

The Seadogs were hoping for back-to-back victories today when they entertain Blyth Spartans, who beat them 2-0 on Boxing Day.

Boro will go into the clash at the McCain Stadium in good heart after one of their best displays of the season at Throstle Nest.

The visitors dominated from start to finish and shot-shy Farsley were kept at arms' length by a superb display by Boro centre-backs Denny Ingram and Mark Hotte.

Scarborough struck twice in five minutes immediately before half time to gain the points.

First Chris Thompson weaved his way into the Farsley box and pulled the ball back for midfielder Jamie Vermiglio to drive into the top corner.

The lead was doubled when Farsley failed to deal with a corner and in the scramble that followed Darren Thornton stabbed the ball home.

Harrogate Town were hoping to dish out similar treatment to Farsley at Wetherby Road this afternoon.

Neil Aspin's side will be looking to get their promotion drive back on track after being held 0-0 at Blyth.

Harrogate, who have struggled for goals in recent matches, were in the ascendancy for much of the match but were unable to take their chances.

They had efforts from Roy Hunter and Leigh Wood cleared off the line and almost paid at the end when Alex Gildea shot into Harrogate's side netting in injury time.

What a washout SATURDAY'S games involving Harrogate Railway, Pickering Town and Selby Town were all washed out.

The Pikes have rearranged their Northern Counties East League premier division game at Glapwell for Tuesday, February 20, while the Robins will entertain Long Eaton the following night.
