NESTLE Rowntree stretched their unbeaten away run in the Leeper Hare York and District League premier division to five games with a 3-1 win at Heslington.

Lee Bunce opened the scoring in the fifth minute when the home 'keeper failed to hold a shot from Darren Brandon. Trees doubled their lead before half-time with a Wayne Scaife volley.

Heslington were the better side in the second half and sub John Thornton reduced the arrears and then Rowntree had a narrow escape as Heslington hit the bar. But with the game still in the balance Brandon struck to seal victory.

Lee Gemmell scored the only goal of the game as Tate & Lyle (Selby) beat fellow strugglers Pocklington 1-0.

With Hamilton Panthers' game a casualty of the weather, Wilberfoss reclaimed pole position in division one as they came from behind to beat Amotherby 2-1 with a couple of Danny Johns goals. Tom Moorcroft had given Amotherby the lead.

Easingwold, with no home win in eight, entertained Rufforth, a side without an away win in ten, so it was no surprise the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Mark Hutchinson hit both Easingwold's goals.

Stamford Bridge slipped to their fourth consecutive away defeat after losing 3-0 at Bishopthorpe whose goals came from Andrew Manns, Tom Green (penalty) and Ian Kettlewell.

Riccall's resurgence continued as they beat Elvington 2-0 with strikes from Andy Northern and Ryan Chadwick.

Hemingbrough's impressive away form continued in the only division two fixture of the day.

Luke Zacharenko giving Hemingbrough an early lead at Post Office but the hosts levelled through Neil Holmes five minutes later as the game finished 1-1.

Melbourne drew 2-2 with Norton in the only division three game - all the goals coming in the first half.

Danny Bull put the hosts in front but Chris Segar's 11th league goal of the season drew Norton level. John Dutton put Norton ahead but Phil Goddard equalised before the break.
