A highly-contested York FA Saturday Junior Cup second round encounter saw division two rivals Fulford United win 3-1 at Strensall.

It was a game of few chances until Fulford’s Danny Hall gave the visitors the lead after a good effort from team-mate Ross Wilkinson. The lead was short lived when Strensall equalised after half an hour, Joe Davison tapping home from close range.

Strensall goalkeeper Sam Marshall made a good block outside his area, while colleagues Charlie Coupland and Chris Copper went close at the other end.

Fulford regained the lead after the break when Danny Holmes headed home after more good work from Ross Wilkinson.

The lead was extended to 3-1 when Jamie Husband slotted home after 64 minutes. Strensall’s John Cooper had two good opportunities, but could not convert either. South Milford put four goals past Dunnington Reserves who managed one either side of half-time in reply.

Paul Moran (2), Adam Sadler and Robin Fossett netted for Milford. After knocking Rawcliffe out of the League Cup on penalties Stamford Bridge managed it again following a 2-2 draw at the end of 90 minutes.

Another 2-2 draw at the end of 90 minutes saw Copmanthorpe Reserves dispose of F1 Racing with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win. Terry Hibbert and Steve Purdy scored for Copmanthorpe.

Haxby United Reserves had a 7-6 penalty win at home to York Acorn.

Kieran Harris put the home side ahead but Acorn stepped up a gear to make it 4-1.

Tom Kilvington reduced the arrears to give Haxby hope with a 4-2 half-time deficit. Second-half goals came from Haxby’s Ben Drummond and an own goal to prompt the shoot-out.

Haxby’s first team won 3-1 away at Brooklyn Reserves with goals from Paul Holmes, Paul Scaith and Dale Waddington. Bishop Wilton won 4-1 at Hemingbrough Reserves with goals from Tom and Josh Knowles, Darren Woodhead and Jason Race. Easingwold Reserves put five goals past Cliffe Reserves, the plunder shared between Scott Dixon (2), Brandon Carrick, Jordan Green and Dean Walker.
