DUNNINGTON were presented with their first-ever York Minster Engineering Football League premier division championship trophy ahead of their 4-0 win over York St John.

The new champions are still unbeaten after 25 games and they celebrated the end of an 89-year wait for the title by securing their 22nd win of the season.

Jonny Andrews and Alex Lowe netted in the first half for the hosts, with Tom Richards and Jimmy Wilmoth scoring in the second period.

Old Malton suffered their first defeat in 11 games as they lost 1-0 at Copmanthorpe.

They held on to the runners-up spot, but only on goal difference from Cop, who have a game in hand.

Matty Bastock hit the only goal after ten minutes.

Wigginton continued to slide down the table after failing to win for the fourth game on the trot, losing 2-1 to Rowntrees.

Ex-Wiggy striker Kev Butler headed his new club in front after 20 minutes and Carl Stewart doubled their lead eight minutes later.

Lee Stewart converted a Grasshoppers penalty, but Rowntrees’ fourth home win on the bounce means they are a win away from securing their top flight status.

Easingwold remain embroiled in the relegation battle after losing 2-1 at home to York RI, their ninth home game without a win.

Lee Powell took his personal tally for the season to 24 with RI’s opener before Liam Keenaghan made it 2-0. Dave Adams halved the deficit late in the proceedings.

Riccall recorded their first away win in four with a 3-1 win at Selby RSSC, who are one win from safety.

Gary Collier, Tom Littlewood and Luke Crowther shared the Riccall goals, with Chris Coxen replying. Basement side Hamilton Panthers recorded their first home win since November as they beat Terrington Glory 5-1 thanks to four goals from Olly Newby.

Adam Fishwick added Panthers’ other goal and Alex Yates hit back for Glory.

Aviva clinched promotion to the premier division after a 2-1 success in their winner-takes-all battle with White Horse.

The Church Fenton side took the lead on 15 minutes but, within three minutes, Tom Shirley’s free-kick restored parity. Shirley’s second goal sealed the division one crown.

St Clement’s bounced back from a midweek defeat with a 5-1 win at relegated Wilberfoss to boost their promotion hopes. Scott Nicholas (2), Dale Lumley, Danny Adams and Mike Midgley shared Saints’ tally.

Malton & Norton wrapped up their season with a 2-1 win at Total Sports. Marcus Godsell’s opener was Malt’s first goal in almost five hours.

Kevin Oxendale added a second, with Ben Brannigan replying.
