DERWENT United lifted the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League Cup after a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over Wigginton Grasshoppers.

The sides drew 1-1 in a final affected by strong winds at Wigginton.

The ’Hoppers took the lead midway through the first half when Lee Stewart raced onto a Lee McQuade through ball and slotted home.

Wiggy could have added a second early in the second half, but McQuade’s strike sailed wide of the left-hand post.

Derwent applied pressure late in the game and Dave Bradshaw hit a shot into the net through a crowd of players to send the game into extra time.

Despite the dismissal of a Derwent player ten minutes into the first period of extra time, neither side was able to break the deadlock.

Dean Nuttall hit the crucial penalty to won the cup for the Malton-based side.

Meanwhile, Station moved to within two points of division one leaders King William after a 2-1 win at reigning champions Enterprise.

James Shimmin gave the home side the lead with a 40-yard lob, but Station won it with goals from Dave Heron and Wayne Brooke.

Severus moved out of the drop zone after winning 3-1 at Acomb Celtic.

The hosts took the lead with a goal from Mark Benton on 15 minutes and Severus ’keeper Chris Barrett then pulled off a penalty save.

Craig McShane equalised for Severus with a 25-yard volley, before adding second-half goals from Darren Sellars and sub Conner Larner.

Bubwith Nomads moved up to second in division two after Jake Marshall netted in a 1-0 victory over York Nomads.

Marcia Grey wrapped up their season with a 3-3 home draw against Hemingbrough.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, Marcia were gifted an own goal and Steve Pickup levelled. ’Brough went 3-2 in front before Chris Murcutt levelled again.

The visitors’ goals came from Stephen Morton, Danny Collins and Luke Zacharenko.

Huntington kept their promotion hopes alive in division three by beating Brayton 8-3.

Lee Bunce hit a hat-trick, Chris Dyson grabbed a brace and there were goals for Tommy Hair, Nicke Rakjcevic and John Patrick.

Brayton’s scorers were Michael Davison (2) and Rob Guest, with a penalty.

York Five Lions, in second place, ended their season with a 5-5 draw against Marcia Bishopthorpe and now must await other results to see if they will be promoted.

Lions’ scorers were Will Moore (2), Henry Robinson, Danny Atkinson and Liam Keenaghan.

Marcia replied through Martin Charlton (2), Bill Hetherton (2) and Carl Lampett.

Division four front-runners Britannia kept up their unbeaten record with a 3-1 win at Drax thanks to goals from Adam Simionedes (2) and Jordan Annett-Willoughby.

Second-placed NUR beat St John 6-4 with goals by Danny Cotton (2), Nicky Fletcher, Matty West, Paul Fletcher and James Constable.

Tadcaster Magnets beat Eggborough Rangers 4-1 with goals from Sam Farthing, Simon Hughes, Tom Deighton and an own goal. Rangers replied with a penalty from James Newnham.
