LEEPER Hare York and District Football League premier division leaders Huntington maintained their title challenge with a 2-1 victory.

Iain Dunn met a Pete Laidlow cross to put Huntington ahead and then doubled the lead in the second half after Chris Dyson threaded a through ball into his path.

Steve Hadden grabbed a late consolation goal for the hosts despite an outstanding debut by Huntington's defender Sam Marshall.

Dunnington have now failed to beat Huntington in their last five meetings.

Dringhouses keeper Richard Sykes saved a crucial penalty at Heslington to deny the hosts an equaliser to an early Lee Bond goal.

Shortly afterwards Mark Woodward scored for the fifth game on trot to make it 2-0 and two goals in the last six minutes from Danny Gray and Craig McShane, the latter from the penalty spot after Gray was brought down, wrapped up victory.

Mathew Cox gave York St John's the lead after 49 minutes against Nestle Rowntree but it lasted less than 60 seconds as Ken Davies headed the ball down from a corner for Ashley Hill to level. Stuart Lee hit Rowntree's winner two minutes from the end.

Tockwith drew 1-1 at home to Pocklington, who led through Pete Dransfield but a delightful chip from Chris Blakey earned Tockwith a point.

Mark Featherstone gave Copmanthorpe the first-half lead at home to Malton & Norton but Simon Collins hit a screamer to salvage a point.
